Registration is open now through June 2010 for the current season at New Jersey School of Ballet. The school offers classes for students of all ages from 4 through adults, and all levels from beginner through advanced and professional. A trial class is offered to all new students.
Classes include ballet, pointe, tap and jazz. All ballet and pointe classes have live piano accompaniment.
New Jersey School of Ballet places great emphasis on correct technique to avoid injury. The school’s outstanding faculty features professionals with extensive teaching experience and performing backgrounds in such companies as the Kirov, the Bolshoi, Perm Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Metropolitan Opera Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, New Jersey Ballet and many more.
The school offers a special Intensive Program for career-bound students. The Intensive program is designed to challenge the high level of achievement and commitment of that is evident in those accepted into the program. Acceptance is by audition only.
Parents are invited to observe classes twice each year. Student workshop performances at the end of the season are presented on stage in a professional theatre. New Jersey School of Ballet is not a competition school.
There are numerous performance opportunities for students throughout the year. Every fall, auditions are held for children’s roles in New Jersey Ballet Company’s acclaimed production of Nutcracker, which tours statewide -- including a 12-performance run at Millburn’s landmark Paper Mill Playhouse. Students are also invited to audition for children’s roles in other New Jersey Ballet professional productions.
Over the years, New Jersey School of Ballet students have made their marks in such top ballet companies as American Ballet Theatre and New York City Ballet. Others have enjoyed great success on Broadway and television.
New Jersey School of Ballet has three convenient locations; in Livingston off Route 10, in Somerville on West Main Street, and at the Morris Center YMCA in Cedar Knolls. All have ample free parking.
