Classes Levels
All divisions in dance instruction offer graded classes for beginner, intermediate, advanced and professional levels. Classes are grouped as follows, with overlapping of children and teens depending on the student’s level:
Children’s Division: ages 4 thru 16
Teen Division: ages 14 thru 18
Adult Division: age 18 and over

Ballet
Introductory and Basic. Preparation for academic ballet. Ages 4—6 years.Academic Ballet. Technical training; the basis of all dance movement.The following classes are added to the student’s schedule depending on the individual’s progress and as the program becomes more intensified.
Partnering
Partnering. The art of performing together in pas de deux (dance for two). Lifts and support work are taught to male and female dancers using classical ballet as a basis.
Pointe
Pointe. The technique of performing on toe (pointe) for classical and contemporary ballet.Variations. The study of solo parts from the classical and contemporary repertory.
Tap
The art of rhythm tap emphasizes the syncopated rhythms of jazz music and the use of the entire body as a musical instrument.
Character
It is the stylized representation of a traditional folk or national dance, normally from a European country, and uses movements and music which have been adapted from classical dance for theatre.
Contemporary
This style combines the strong, controlled leg work of ballet with modern dance's stress on the torsoe and the improvisational nature of modern dance. Contemporary is one of the principle genres in many of today's college dance programs.
Jazz
Jazz teaches the student contemporary and primitive styles of movement. Although the movements are less rigidly formalized than in ballet, the exercises teach and develop the ability to move and control each part of the body.While ballet is influenced by the melodic line of music, jazz movement follows the rhythmic beat of the music. It is an exciting dance form that expands the student’s sense of interpretation and movement.
Hip-Hop
A combination of street dance styles performed to hip-hop music. Hip-hop includes such elements as breaking, locking, and popping.
Musical Theatre
Form of theatre combining music, songs and spoken dialogue with dance. The story of the dance is communicated through the words, music, movement and technical aspects of the entertainment as an integrated whole. Dancing you see in a Broadway musical.
