Classes Levels

All divisions in dance instruction offer graded classes for beginner, intermediate, advanced and professional levels. Classes are grouped as follows, with overlapping of children and teens depending on the student’s level:

Children’s Division: ages 4 thru 16
Teen Division: ages 14 thru 18
Adult Division: age 18 and over

Class Levels

Children's Division

Intro (Intro to Dance) – 4-5 years

Prep 1 (Ballet Prep 1) – 6-7 years

Prep 2 (Ballet Prep 2) – 8-10 years

Children's Division ballet classes will be offered 3 times per week. You are required to sign up for a minimum of one class per week.

Student Division

Level 1 – 9-11 years 3 compulsory ballet classes per week

Level 2 – 10-12 years 3 compulsory ballet/pointe and 1 jazz/contemporary class per week

Level 3 – 11-13 years 3 compulsory ballet, 2 pointe, and 1 jazz/contemporary class per week

Level 4 – 13-15 years 4 compulsory ballet/pointe, 1 jazz/contemporary, and 1 Pilates class per week

Level 5 – 14-16 years 4 compulsory ballet, 2 pointe, 1 variations, 1 jazz/contemporary, and 1 Pilates class per week

Level 6 – 16-17 years 5 compulsory ballet, 3 pointe, 2 variations, 1 jazz/contemporary, and 1 Pilates class per week

ADV (Advanced) – 16-18 years (By Invitation Only) 6 compulsory ballet/pointe, 2 variations, 1 partnering, 1 stage craft, 1 jazz/contemporary, and 1 Pilates class per week

*Student Division dancers should have a yoga mat or yoga towel and a Theraband of light to medium strength, as these will be used throughout the year.

Student Division Auditions

Dancers will be assessed upon first applying for the Student Division Program. They will continue to be evaluated throughout the year by the teaching staff and finally assessed at a scheduled audition in June. They will be placed in the appropriate level based on their age and ability. All placement decisions are solely at the discretion of the artistic staff.

Open Division

Open B1 (Open Ballet 1) – 10-13 years (guide age bracket)

Open B2 (Open Ballet 2) – 14-18 years (guide age bracket)

Open A/T (Open Adult/Teen Ballet)

Morning A/T (Morning Adult/Teen Ballet) *Runs Tuesday-Friday from 10:00-11:30am in Studio 2.

Beg. A/T (Beginner Adult/Teen Ballet)

Int. A/T (Intermediate Adult/Teen Ballet)

Boys Class (Ballet) – 7-16 years

Open Jazz/HH *A combination of Jazz and Hip Hop for ages 8-15.

Open Contemporary *Generally recommended for ages 13 and above.

Open Hip-Hop

Open Musical Theater

Open Ballroom

Open Pilates

​Open B1 (Open Ballet 1) - Open B1 will cater to young students who may not wish to commit to the compulsory requirements of the Student Division.This class will also serve as an introduction to ballet training, so as to include the first-time students and nurture them toward the class level appropriate to their age and ability. 10-13yrs (guide age bracket)

Open B2 (Open Ballet 2) - Open B2 will cater to the student who may not wish to commit to the compulsory requirements of the Student Division.This class will also serve as a more advanced introduction to ballet training, nurturing students toward the class level appropriate to their age and ability. 14-18 yrs (guide age bracket).

*Please note that both Open Ballet 1 and 2 will offer pointe work twice weekly. To sign up for Pointe, students must take at least two ballet classes per week. The minimum age to take pointe is 11.
