
Summer Intensive Program
New Jersey School of Ballet’s 5-week annual Summer Intensive Program is designed to provide personalized training for students ages 9-20. The school’s esteemed faculty provides high-caliber instruction focusing on strong technique and artistry. Classes are held in New Jersey Ballet’s spacious studios in Florham Park. Applicants must schedule their audition date in advance via email, toni@njballet.org or phone, 973-597-9600.
APPLICANTS: Age 9-20 with previous ballet training. All applicants are asked to send in Audition Registration Form prior to their scheduled audition date. Form may be found on the website, www.njschoolofballet.com. If not a current student at NJSB, you are asked to send the Audition Registration, 2 photos (a Head Shot and photo in First Arabesque), a resume detailing training and experience, and a letter of recommendation. If an applicant cannot attend either audition date, he or she may submit a video submission along with the audition materials no later than May 1. YouTube and Vimeo are acceptable formats. Please provide link(s) and provide password / permission to view the videos. Video should consist of barre work (maximum 5 minutes; only one side for each combination): plies, tendus, adagio, grand battements. Center work (maximum 10 minutes): pirouette combination with pirouettes en-dehor, adagio, allegro combinations (small jumps, medium allegro including assembles and jetes, grand allegro, boys / men: include tours en l’air, pointe work (if applicable) including echappes and bourrées.
AUDITION FEE: $30 for all applicants except current NJSB Intensive Students. Audition Fee is payable in advance through the payment portal or in person via cash, check or credit card.
COURSES: Students will have a comprehensive schedule including Ballet Technique, Pointe*, Character, Variations / Repertory, Pilates, Strength & Conditioning, Jazz / Musical Theatre, Contemporary and Hip-Hop. Partnering (upper levels only) will be offered. *Students who have not started pointe will take the pointe portion of the class in ballet slippers.
WEEKLY SCHEDULE: Consists of 3-5 days per week and approximately 4 hours of classes per day. There are no classes on Saturdays and Sundays.
DATES: JULY 10 THROUGH AUGUST 11. We recommend the full five weeks or a three-week minimum. Please do not split weeks. Consecutive weeks are always the most productive for the student.
TUITION: Ranges from $1,000 to $2,000 for five weeks, depending on the level and number of days and classes per week.
